Medicaid & CHP+
The Children's Health Plan Plus (CHP+) furnishes dental, vision and orthodontic coverage to qualifying children through Health First Colorado (the state’s Medicaid program) and independent CHP+ initiatives.
Medicaid dental services include routine dental cleanings and check-ups, fluoride applications, dental sealants, fillings, crowns, extractions, and other essential dental treatments. Medicaid covers two preventative visits a year and additional care if needed. Medicaid recipients are exempt from any co-payments or premiums for their dental healthcare, making it possible for parents to provide necessary care for their children with minimal or no financial burden.
- Health First Colorado
Medicaid provides coverage for orthodontic treatment expenses for children diagnosed with malocclusion issues, which may include conditions like overbite, underbite, crossbite, or severe crowding. When a child undergoes an orthodontic assessment, we will assess the likelihood of Medicaid covering their treatment and will also handle the entire approval process on their behalf.
Children and young adults, ages 21 and younger, who are Medicaid beneficiaries automatically have vision care coverage as part of their health insurance plan. Medicaid includes coverage for an annual routine comprehensive eye examinations and prescription eyeglasses for children in need of vision correction.
